HOW TO USE
The Sunrise Cemetery listing consists of two parts.
Part I contains the inscriptions on the tombstones. No additions have
been however in some cases a small epitaph may have been left off but any
such omission did not effect the genealogical use of the inscription.
Part II contains an alphabetical index of the person's names which appear
in the cemetery. At the end of the entry there are notes added to help
identify the individual. This material was gleaned from the inscriptions
themselves, interpretation of the material on the stone or data that was
collected from other sources such as interviews with family members, census
reports, obituaries and newspapers. The absolute accuracy of the notes is
not guaranteed but may give the genealogist, that is not familiar with the
people in the area, a clue to some relationships of persons buried in the
cemetery.
The following conventions were used in his listing.
Dates are given in the accepted genealogical format of day,month and
year.
???? = letters or numerals were carved but were undecipherable.
____ = nothing was carved and the positions so marked are blank.
[MM] = a military marker provided by the government for veterans. There
are several different styles in the cemetery.
(Alive 7/86) = person named was known to be alive in the month/year
shown.
(dh: ____) = Notes added by the compiler.
Each surname entry in Part I indicates a stone for that person. If two
persons with the same surname are listed on the same stone then the surname
is omitted from the second name. There are some names with more than one
stone. This sample entry shows that two persons are listed on the same
stone but their relationship is not shown. They may appear in the Part II
as husband and wife which was determined from other sources.

If more than two persons or two persons with different surnames are
identified on a stone then a notation will be shown in the last column to
clarify the entry in Part I.
Generally the listings in Part I indicate the relative position of that
stone to others. The cemetery is laid out in rows which run north and
south across the cemetery. The survey was done stating in the southeast
corner of the cemetery and odd numbered rows are listed from south to north
and even numbered rows are listed north to south.
Epitaphs are shown after the name and dates regardless of the location on
the stone.
The compiler is indebted to the following persons who were very helpful
in obtaining the information and adding the notes to Part II. Joseph T.
Harper, Mrs. Cora Price Carr, Mrs. Fannie Mae Carr Brumett, Carlos Mullin,
Mrs. Ruth Whiteker Mullin, and all the people he met in the cemetery while
collecting the tombstone inscriptions.

To Mrs. Ruth Whiteker Mullin who died on 13 January 1987 at age 70 and
her husband, Carlos H. Mullin, who died 2 October 1987 at age 74.
